As an architect and firm principal, Spencer is a recognized leader both in his work and within the community. His pragmatic, collaborative approach to design has led to a number of award-winning projects spanning diverse building types and scales. Spencer served as design lead for the Heyward Career & Technology Centers Culinary Arts addition, which received five design awards, including an Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects South Carolina chapter. Other notable projects under his leadership include the new 60,000-square-foot Academic and Student Services Building at Central Carolina Technical College which opened in 2025, and a new headquarters for Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union - a six-story high rise in the heart of downtown Columbia.

A native of Columbia, Spencer takes pride in being a part of the city's growth and an active participant in the community. He was named one of Columbia’s Best & Brightest 35 and Under by Columbia Business Monthly in 2022 and graduated from the Columbia Chamber’s renowned Leadership Columbia program in 2025. He was also president of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Columbia chapter in 2022 and has served as a board member for several years. Spencer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from Clemson University.
